FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed out from the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek Provincial Courts between September 9th and 13th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, September 9th

Austyn Levi Adekat (born 1997):

Adekat was found guilty of mischief for an incident in Blueberry River Indigenous Reserve on October 8th, 2023. Adekat was issued a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow. They also received a 19-month probation order, and a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping victims of a crime.

Gerry Allan Lafleur (born 1973):

Lafleur was found guilty of driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code of Canada for an incident in Fort St. John on June 10th, 2023. Lafleur was issued a 12-month conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called “house arrest.”

Shinto Lonappan (born 1986):

Lonappan was found guilty of assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats, for an incident in Fort St. John on January 7th, 2024. Lonappan was issued two four-month conditional sentences, two 14-month probation orders, two $100 victim surcharges, a 10-year mandatory firearm prohibition, and was ordered to report for DNA sample collection.

Jordan Wade Saddleback (born 1989):

Saddleback was found guilty of two counts of breaching release orders, for incidents in Fort St. John and Blueberry River Indigenous Reserve in March of 2023 and February of 2024. Saddleback was sentenced to jail time served and received two 12-month probation orders.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, September 10th

Sarbjit Singh Dult:

Dult was found guilty of using a motor vehicle within Kingzut closure for an incident in Pink Mountain on December 8th, 2022. Dult was issued a $2,000 fine, including a $300 victim surcharge.

Mason Wayne Hunter (born 1988):

Hunter was found guilty of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm for an incident in Dawson Creek on October 5th, 2022. Hunter was issued a conditional discharge and a two-year probation order. A conditional discharge means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets.

Ross Lebreux (born 1969):

Lebreux was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended license for an incident on January 22nd, 2023. Lebreux was issued a $500 fine and a $75 victim surcharge.

Lakhwinder Singh Sahota:

Sahota was found guilty of using or operating a motor vehicle within an outlined area for an incident in Pink Mountain on December 8th, 2022. Sahota was issued a $2,000 fine, including a $300 victim surcharge.

Jesse-Dylan Wiszka (born 1991):

Wiszka was found guilty of assault causing bodily harm for an incident in Fort St. John on May 9th, 2021. Wiszka was issued a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow. They also received a 12-month probation order, a $100 victim surcharge, and were ordered to report for DNA sample collection.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, September 11th

Aaron Raymond Munch (born 1982):

Munch was found guilty of theft $5,000 or under, breaching a release order, and assault, for incidents in Dawson Creek that took place in July of 2023 and September of 2024. Munch was issued two three-month conditional sentences in addition to jail time served.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, September 12th

Skylar Brandon Jackson (born 1996):

Jackson was found guilty of breaching a probation order for an incident in Moberly Lake on August 3rd, 2024. Jackson was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, September 13th

Mackenzie Reid Bowman (born 1999):

Bowman was found guilty of motor vehicle theft, dangerous operation of a conveyance, three counts of mischief obstructing the use or enjoyment of property, and three counts of being unlawfully in a dwelling-house, for incidents in Fort St. John and Grande Prairie, Alberta, between October and November of 2022.

Bowman was issued three nine-month conditional sentences, three one-year probation orders, one two-year criminal driving prohibition, a discretionary 10-year firearm prohibition, and was ordered to report for DNA sample collection. Bowman was also issued a $100 fine and a combined total of $200 in victim surcharges.

Terrance David Steele (born 1973):

Steele was found guilty of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code of Canada, and dangerous operation of a conveyance, for an incident in Fort St. John on January 9th, 2024.

Steele was issued two six-month conditional sentences, two additional conditional sentences each set to last for two years less a day, and four one-year probation orders. They also received two five-year criminal driving prohibitions.
