FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The next 100 Women Who Care fundraising event will occur in Fort St. John on Tuesday, September 17th.

According to its Facebook page, the group, which was started in 2017, is dedicated to making an “immediate, direct and positive” impact on community groups.

Each attendee will donate $100, with the goal of raising $10,000 by evening’s end.  Three local charities will make their pitches for the contribution at the Lido Theatre.

Bailey Ollenberger, a representative from 100 Women Who Care FSJ, told Energeticcity.ca that some of the bi-yearly events have raised as much as $30,000 in a single night for local organizations.

She says 100 Women Who Care is affiliated with the North Peace Community Foundation (NPCF), which gives the group several advantages.

“Being partnered with NPCF allows our group to donate to these organizations and not have to be a separate registered charity,” said Ollenberger.

“It also allows us to give tax-donation receipts to all who contribute.”

The charities for the fall 2024 event include On Our Way Home Animal Rescue, a foster-based animal rescue shelter.

Other groups include the North Peace Gymnastics Association and the Fort St. John Cancer Circles Support Society.

Doors open for the event on Tuesday evening at 5:45 p.m., with networking opportunities and drinks available at the Lido.

The impact presentations will commence at 7:00 p.m.
