FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – BC Hydro has announced filling of the Site C reservoir is scheduled to begin early next week.

According to a press release, the reservoir will take four months to fill, and water levels will rise between 30 centimetres and three metres per day. 

Members of the public are strongly urged to stay off the water and away from the reservoir shoreline during and after the filling until the area is deemed safe.

The area will be monitored for slope stability and erosion for the next two years, and all public boat launches between Fort St. John and Hudson’s Hope have been closed until at least the spring of 2026.
