PRRD approves future dissolving Chetwynd TV rebroadcasting and Scramblevision
The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) Electoral Area Directors Committee (EADC) has approved a motion to send a letter to the District of Chetwynd for support in dissolving Chetwynd and Area E Scramblevision and Chetwynd TV.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) Electoral Area Directors Committee (EADC) has approved a motion to send a letter to the District of Chetwynd for support in dissolving Chetwynd and Area E Scramblevision and Chetwynd TV.
According to a report provided to the EADC, Function 505, Chetwynd and Area E Scramblevision, and Function 510, Chetwynd and Area TV Rebroadcasting, were first established in 1997 and 1983, respectively.
The final agreement with any society between either function ended in 2005, and now the PRRD is re-evaluating service establishment bylaws associated with the two services.Â
The report confirmed that the PRRD does not have any reserve funds within either function. By repealing service establishment bylaws, the PRRD can rearrange service monies to different services or use them for non-service purposes.Â
The report states that the services are dormant; however, directors agreed that this was inaccurate, as Chetwynd TV has been operating in various capacities for several years.Â
Upon the conclusion of a unanimous vote, the committee moved to confirm the District of Chetwynd’s support to dissolve the two functions.Â
Once a letter of support is received, provisions for the services will be discontinued, and the PRRD will begin preparing a bylaw to repeal all existing bylaws related to the functions.
