Boundary Lake Water Station closed after inspection raises water quality concerns

GOODLOW, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has closed the Boundary Lake Water Station indefinitely.

According to a press release from the PRRD, the station has been closed since August 12th, after concerns were raised about the station’s water quality following a routine inspection.

“Investigation has identified an equipment failure on the supplier’s side of the system as the cause of the compromised water quality,” the release reads. “The supplier is currently repairing the failure point.”

PRRD staff say the damage poses no threat to public safety, but it has impacted the water station’s treatment system.

“The PRRD is now assessing the extent of damage to the water station infrastructure. It is not yet determined how long it will take to replace the affected system parts and restore the water station to full service.”

Staff members say updates on the closure will be posted to the PRRD’s website and social media pages as new information becomes available.

In the meantime, residents are encouraged to visit the Feye Spring Water Station at 1863 Imperial Avenue in Clayhurst, B.C.
