FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Local company Bold Promotions raised $124,000 in donations from their Celebrity Pro-Am tournament held at Lakepoint Golf and Country Club earlier this month.

According to an Instagram post, the money raised in the tournament held on August 8th and 9th will go toward local charities.

Billed as the “final major” on the Vancouver Golf Tour (VGT), entrants were paired in foursomes over 36 holes, with scoring based on the Stableford System of points on each hole rather than stroke play.

The winning team from heating contractor D Bauer scored 280 in the two rounds, edging second-place Fort Motors by one point.

Meanwhile, Richmond’s Ilirian Zalli shot a 65 on both days, winning the pro event by seven strokes over runner-up Rudy Caparas of Washington, D.C.

According to its website, the VGT is a circuit that offers aspiring amateurs and young professionals the opportunity to develop their golfing skills in a “real-time” tournament environment.

Events are hosted throughout the summer months across the lower mainland region. Since 2006, the circuit has been sponsored by IGA grocery stores in British Columbia.
