FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John RCMP officers say a suspect in a robbery that took place earlier this month has been arrested in another province.
According to the detachment, the robbery took place at a hotel at the 8500 block of Alaska Road North on August 13th at about 6:00 a.m.
The suspect reportedly threatened the worker at the front desk with a large knife, demanding cash, before taking a set of vehicle keys as they left the building.
While police were on route to the scene, they were told the suspect had fled. After arriving, officers determined that the suspect had stolen the vehicle associated with the keys they took and driven away.
Police patrolled the area but were unable to find the stolen vehicle or the suspect.
Later that day at 4:00 p.m., the detachment was contacted by officers with the RCMP detachment in Fox Creek, Alberta, saying the vehicle had been located and the suspect was in custody.
Police say they’re being held for court, and charges of robbery and breach of probation are being forwarded for approval.
