Fort St. John Emergency Department closed overnight Monday

Northern Health has announced a diversion of the Fort St. John emergency department overnight on August 5th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Northern Health has announced a diversion of the Fort St. John emergency department overnight on August 5th.

The emergency department at the Fort St. John Hospital will be closed from 6 p.m. on Monday, August 5th, to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6th.

The health authority posted news of the diversion to Facebook and cited ‘challenges with physician coverage’ for the closure.

Residents requiring life-threatening medical attention are encouraged to call 9-1-1 to get transportation to the nearest available medical facility. 

Those requiring non-urgent medical attention are encouraged to call the Northern Health Virtual Clinic between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. for a family doctor or nurse practitioner.
