FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The District of Hudson’s Hope is seeking elector approval to borrow money to finance a permanent Water Treatment Plant.

In a Facebook post on July 30th, the district announced a vote scheduled for October 5th, with advanced elector registration open until August 13th.

The vote is intended to gauge residents’ approval of the district borrowing funds to finance the construction of a permanent Water Treatment Plant.

Registration can be completed at the District’s Office on 9904 Dudley Drive until 4:30 p.m. on August 13th. While advanced registration will not be available following this date, voting day registration will remain open until October 5th. 

Electors must present two pieces of identification proving their residency and personal identity to complete the registration application process. 

Qualifications for residents to register include being 18 years of age or older on the day of voting, having Canadian citizenship, being a resident of B.C. for at least six months before the day of registration, and being a resident of the district on the day of registration.

Non-residents of the district can also vote as long as they fulfill all the qualifications of residents, excluding being residents of the district. 

Instead, non-residents must have been registered owners of a property in the district’s voting area for at least 30 days before the day of registration.
