FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The District of Taylor has approved a new policy for the District Ice Centre during the July 22nd Special Council Meeting.

The policy was brought before the council on July 8th; however, it was not passed due to several revisions requested by Mayor Brent Taillefer and councillors.

During the July 22nd meeting, Interim Chief Administrative Officer Ryan Galay stated that staff had reviewed the policy’s language and made several of the changes requested by councillors.

These changes included how many events groups could host at the centre, the allocation of rented ice time, how cancellations would be handled, and where events such as gatherings and birthday celebrations could be hosted within the facility.

Staff also held a meeting with some of the groups who rent the centre to workshop language, wording and policies for ice renting and time allocation, which Galay stated was productive for reworking the policy.

The District Ice Policy was approved during the July 22nd meeting, and the previously enacted Arena Policy was repealed.
