BCWS provides update on wildfires in Peace region

According to the BC Wildfire Service, 16 fires remain in the Peace River Regional District.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — According to the BC Wildfire Service, 16 fires remain in the Peace River Regional District. 

Of the 16 blazes, eight of those fires are listed as “out of control” and have the potential to grow beyond their current boundaries. 

Meanwhile, another four are “being held,” meaning they are unlikely to expand beyond their current boundaries under the current weather conditions and resources assigned to the fire.

The last four are “under control” and not likely to expand their current boundaries.

According to BCWS, the Cecil Lake Road wildfire that ignited on Sunday, July 21st, has been put out, never exceeding one hectare in size.

The Tupper Creek fire remains at 97 hectares in size and is ‘being held’ with a unit crew on site.
