FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Energetic County Fair kicks off in Fort St. John Thursday night, featuring three days of music, entertainment, and food.

Artists including Rachelle Holmes, Chapel Hart, Witchazel, Tiegen Gayse, and Brayden Watson will perform from July 18th to 20th from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the 18th and 19th and 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the 20th.

Dale Plourde, an event organizer, said attendees can expect an increased and improved sound and lighting production at this year’s event.

“We’re looking at record crowds, and are hoping to break the 5,000 [attendees] mark this year,” Plourde said.

Due to the heat warning present for the Peace River region throughout the week and into next, organisers have arranged for a cooling booth courtesy of AAA Safety, and MLA Dan Davies will be handing out free water at the fair.

“Take the precautions, make sure you hydrate yourself, and reduce the exposure,” Plourde said.

The first night of the fair features musical acts from Rachelle Holmes, Witchazel, and Reckless and is free to enter.

“The idea is for everyone to just come and check out the site and listen to some music. The beer garden will be open, there will be some vendors there as well,” Plourde said.

Tickets are still available online and at the event, but Plourde explained that organizers expect to sell out before the weekend, and interested individuals are encouraged to purchase soon.
