Traffic restored following motor home fire on Highway 97

RCMP Staff Sergeant Scott Watson says traffic has resumed on Highway 97 in both directions after a vehicle fire near Charlie Lake.

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. — RCMP Staff Sergeant Scott Watson says traffic has resumed on Highway 97 in both directions after a vehicle fire near Charlie Lake.

According to Watson, officers were called to the scene on the afternoon of July 15th after reports of a motor home on fire.

“There was a report of a motor home that was fully engulfed [in flames],” Watson told Energeticcity.ca. “No occupants inside, members are still on-scene assisting with traffic control.”

The fire reportedly occurred near the scale at Mile 54 of Highway 97. Witnesses reported traffic stopping in both directions at roughly 1:16 p.m. at the area of the fire.

Traffic resumed at approximately 1:50 p.m. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Energeticcity.ca reached out to the Charlie Lake Fire Department to learn more about the incident. The department didn’t respond in time for publication.
