FORT NELSON, B.C. — Northern Health has advised Fort Nelson residents that the emergency department services at the hospital will be unavailable on Sunday.
On Saturday, Northern Health shared in a Facebook group for Fort Nelson and area residents that the services will be unavailable from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday July 14, 2024, due to “challenges with nursing staff availability.”
Northern Health says it is working to ensure physician and nursing staff coverage and the timing may be adjusted.
The emergency department is expected to reopen at 7 p.m. on July 14, 2024.
The health authority advises those experiencing life-threatening emergencies to always call 9-1-1 for transport to the appropriate facility.

Residents who are unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC at 811 or visit their website for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
