UPDATED : Highway 97 southbound near 92A street open in both directions

Drivers on Highway 97 southbound by 92A street in Fort St. John are going in single-lane, alternating traffic after a dump truck caused a spill on the afternoon of July 3rd.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Drivers on Highway 97 southbound by 92A street in Fort St. John are going in single-lane, alternating traffic after a dump truck caused a spill on the afternoon of July 3rd.

A local motorist said at 5:35 p.m. that alternating traffic affected the area as crews cleaned up following the incident.

The closure began after a dump truck spilled some of its contents onto the road. Energeticcity.ca was made aware of the closure at roughly 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd.

While the road was closed, motorists are being detoured into Fort St. John via 86th Street so they can get back onto the highway.

DriveBC has yet to add any information about the closure. Energeticcity.ca will update this article with new information as it becomes available.

**An earlier version of this story suggested it was a hydro vac truck that spilt its load. It was not, it was a dump truck.
