UPDATE: BC Hydro reports power outage in downtown Fort St. John

Over 40 homes and businesses in Fort St. John are without power this Monday morning.

UPDATE: This outage has now ended.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Several homes and businesses in Fort St. John were without power this Monday morning.

According to BC Hydro, a small power outage hit a cluster of buildings in the downtown area at 7:27 a.m. June 3rd.

The outage is centred north of 103rd Avenue, west of 98th Street, east of 100th Street, and south of 104th Avenue.

According to BC Hydro’s website, 43 customers were affected initially, and a crew is on-site to address the outage.

Among those 43 customers were Save-On-Foods and Shoppers Drug Mart, both of which temporarily closed.

By the early afternoon, only 14 customers were left without power.

The cause of the outage is listed as “equipment failure.”
