Fire Information Officer Pedro Rolean-Delgado of the BCWS confirmed to Energeticcity.ca on Saturday morning that the fire’s proximity and fires in the Fort Nelson area contributed to the air quality experienced in Fort St. John on the weekend.

“The smoke would be contributing to the Air Quality advisory with all the fires in the area,” said Rolean-Delgado. “Wind is pushing smoke from the fires in Fort Nelson southeast.”

Energeticcity.ca will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
