Blueberry River First Nation issues evacuation alert

Residents of Blueberry River First Nations are being urged to gather and pack up supplies so they can be prepared to evacuate the area.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Residents of Blueberry River First Nations are being urged to gather and pack up supplies so they can be prepared to evacuate the area.

The Blueberry River First Nations’ Emergency Operations Centre has issued an evacuation alert, due to the three-hectare Donnie Creek wildfire that reignited Friday.

The evacuation point for the alert is the Blueberry Restoration Office. Residents are urged to pack the following:

  • Medications: bring adequate supply of prescription medications
  • Clothes and personal items: pack a few changes of clothes, including comfortable shoes
  • Don’t forget personal hygiene items
  • Important documents: carry copies of identification cards, passports and insurance policies. Include other vital records if possible.
  • Pets and their necessities.

Residents who need help with transportation are urged to contact transportation coordinator Allan Apsassin at 250-224-7864.
