Dawson Creek announces 2024 art contest, select pieces will be included in Official Community Plan

Dawson Creek is inviting residents to create visual art showcasing what they love about the city and their vision for the community in the future.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Dawson Creek is inviting residents to create visual art showcasing what they love about the city and their vision for the community in the future. 

According to the city, residents can draw, paint, design or photograph a picture to be displayed in the City of Dawson Creek Official Community Plan (OCP).

The OCP is the city’s highest-level policy document, guiding future decision-making over the next 15 to 20 years.

“Whether it is a unique landmark or landscape, vibrant culture, or diverse people, we want you to showcase the beauty that binds us together,” said the city in a press release. 

Submissions must be in by August 30th, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., and include a title and description.

Winners of the contest will get the chance to be recognized at a city council meeting with a handshake and photo opportunity with Mayor Darcy Dober.

The artwork will be reviewed by using criteria such as theme relevance, written narrative, artistic approach, and submission quality. 

Submitted artwork may be used for promotional purposes and potential print publication.
