FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — An out-of-control fire in Nogah Creek, 60 kilometres east of Fort Nelson, is being monitored by the Prince George Fire Centre.
The holdover fire was previously discovered in 2023 and smouldered underground throughout the winter.
The Prince George Fire Centre (PGFC) believes the fire was reignited by a lightning strike on May 5th and has since spread to 500 hectares.

PGFC crews are patrolling the area and monitoring the fire, however, higher-priority fires are being targeted for now.
“It isn’t threatening anything right now. It is burning away from town, and right now, the response is monitor only,” said Pedro Roland-Delgado, a PGFC fire information officer.
The fire was initially discovered on July 8th, 2023 and burned approximately 74,685 hectares of land last year.
Fire crews will continue to monitor the fire until a scheduled incident management team enters the Fort Nelson fire zone to support the PGFC.
