FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Peace Gallery North’s curator and coordinator since 2022 is moving to another province soon, but she says Fort St. John has become “a second home” for her.
Florencia Ormeno is relocating and leaving the gallery at the end of May after opening more than a dozen exhibits over the course of more than a year.
“I’m very happy with everything we’ve done here,” Ormeno said.
“My most loved accomplishment is the Kids’ Art Gallery because we sell kids’ art, and I started that in March last year.”
Ormeno says she’s extremely thankful for everyone she’s met, all the supporters and customers who have attended the gallery, and all the artists showcased during her time in Fort St. John.
“It’s my second home, so I have cherished every opening, every friendship, the community that supports us, that comes here every Friday,” she said.
Ormeno also says this Friday, May 3rd, she’ll be opening her last exhibit with the gallery — called “Colours Of The Peace – Wild And Subtle,” with a reception from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

“This opening is going to be very emotional because it is with the Federation of Canadian Artists,” she says. “It starts on May 3rd until June 1st, so I won’t be here when it ends.”
Admission is free to the reception, and Ormeno says people from all over the Peace region are invited.
She also says her last day is May 24th, and the gallery is actively recruiting applicants interested in becoming its next curator using the employment website Indeed.
