Motorcyclist dies in collision with pickup truck

A motorcyclist has been pronounced dead after a collision in Fort St. John Wednesday night.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A motorcyclist has been pronounced dead after a collision in Fort St. John Wednesday night.

According to the Fort St. John RCMP, the detachment received a call at 9:38 p.m. about a crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle, with significant injuries to one of the drivers, near 93rd Street and 96th Avenue. 

When frontline police and municipal traffic officers arrived at the scene, they found the motorcycle driver receiving CPR.

Officers say the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Police say the witness reports indicate the motorcycle hit the pickup truck, and that speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Services officers conducted a forensic examination of the scene, and police say the two vehicles were both seized for further investigation.
