Fort St. John RCMP respond to incident near 85th Ave and 85th Street, one suspect arrested

According to Fort St John councillor Trevor Bolin, local police officers have arrested a suspect after an incident near the corner of 85th Street and 85th Avenue Sunday morning.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – According to Fort St John councillor Trevor Bolin, local police officers have arrested a suspect after an incident near the corner of 85th Street and 85th Avenue Sunday morning.

Details regarding the nature of the incident and the arrest haven’t been made public yet by the RCMP. 

Throughout the morning many residents took to social media urging others to stay away from the area, with witnesses describing seeing K-9 units at the scene.

One witness posted on social media claiming police arrived on the scene at 5:00 a.m.

“The suspect is now in police custody thanks to our local RCMP as well as [the Emergency Response Team]” Bolin says in a Facebook comment on one social media post.

“To those living in the area, hopefully things get a lot quieter. Thank you to those who posted to avoid the area and kept people in the loop so everyone stayed safe.”
