Northern Hoops Classic returns to Fort St. John

The Northern Hoops Classic basketball tournament is set to return to Fort St. John from April 19th to 21st.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Northern Hoops Classic basketball tournament is set to return to Fort St. John from April 19th to 21st. 

Hosted by FSJ Flight Basketball, the tournament will feature 33 teams consisting of boys and girls in the under-13, under-15, and under-17 age groups.

FSJ Flight is inviting the community to watch and support its athletes. Admission is $5 for a day pass or $10 for a weekend pass.

Attendees can also opt to donate non-perishable food items to the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society in exchange for a day pass. 

Games will take place throughout the weekend at Bert Bowes Middle School, Ma Murray Community School, North Peace Secondary School (NPSS), and Anne Roberts Young Elementary School.

FSJ Flight will be selling swag at NPSS during the tournament, as well as basket raffle tickets ranging from $2 to $5 a piece, with proceeds returned to the club to purchase equipment.

Recent graduate of BCIT’s Broadcast and Online Journalism program, born and raised in Vancouver, Jordan’s passion for broadcast and journalism began with her dream of becoming a hockey journalist and play-by-play commentator.

During her schooling, Jordan discovered a deep passion for reporting on Indigenous issues, culture and affairs. Jordan is also passionate about connecting with and listening to stories from people from different walks of life and cultural backgrounds.

Last Spring, Jordan completed her first season providing play-by-play for Trinity Western University Women’s Hockey and gameday hosting for BCHL Coquitlam Express.

Jordan enjoys radio anchoring, creating and editing video content, and hopes to one day pursue a career in investigative journalism as well as producing documentaries.
