FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Below are the latest sentences handed out from the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek Provincial Courts from April 2nd to April 6th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, April 8th:

Colleen Ellen Achla (born 1971)

Achla was found guilty of one count of assault and one count of breaching a release order for incidents that happened in September of 2023 in Halfway River First Nation.

For the assault charge, Achla was given an absolute discharge, meaning the accused was found guilty, but no conviction was registered, and there were no conditions to follow. 

For breaching a release order, Achla was sentenced to jail time served and issued a $500 fine, including a $150 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping victims of a crime.

Jason Maxie William Mckeever (born 1979)

McKeever entered a guilty plea for one charge of failure to comply with a probation order for an incident in Prince George on February 1st, 2024. McKeever was sentenced to jail time served.

Michael James Power (born 1984)

Power was found guilty of four counts of possession of stolen property, four counts of breach of a release order, two counts of breaking and entering with intent to commit an offense, and one count of willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer. 

The charges were related to incidents in Clearwater, Salmon Arm, Fort St. John and Vernon, B.C. 

Power was sentenced to jail time served, a 12-month probation order, and $2,800 in restitution, which requires the offender to pay the victim for financial losses the victim. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, April 11th:

Noah Charles Almond (born 1997)

Almond was issued a no-money recognizance after allegations for three counts of willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer for an incident in Fort St. John in February of 2022. A no-money recognizance after the allegation means the accused was given conditions to follow.

James O’Brien (born 1973)

O’Brien was issued a no-money recognizance after allegations for one count of causing fear of injury or damage to a person or property for an incident in Fort St. John in January 2022.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, April 10th:

Vincent Casey Calahaison (born 1965)

Calahaison was found guilty of one count of breaching a release order for an incident in Dawson Creek in April 2023. He was sentenced to jail time served.
