UPDATE: BC Wildfire Service controls Cecil Lake blaze, two more fires held
Three new wildfires were sparked in northeast B.C. over the weekend, and all three are suspected to have been caused by human activity.

UPDATE 4:50 p.m.: A fourth wildfire has been discovered on Campbell Road in Chetwynd. According to the BCWS map, the fire is currently under control as of 4:15 p.m. Energeticcity.ca has contacted BCWS to learn more about the response to that blaze.
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Three new wildfires were sparked in northeast B.C. over the weekend, and all three are suspected to have been caused by human activity.
All three began on Sunday, April 7th.

An 8.2-hectare fire near Cecil Lake was labelled “under control” the day it was discovered, according to the BCWS map.
Pedro Roldan-Delgado with the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says an initial attack crew is still on the scene of the fire.
The remaining two, both south of Dawson Creek, are currently being held.
One of the wildfires, southwest of the city near Radar Lake, is less than a hectare in size, and Roldan-Delgado says an initial attack crew is also working there.

The third fire, to the southeast near the Pouce Coupe River and the Alberta border, is 20 hectares.
According to Roldan-Delgado, Alberta Wildfire is also attacking this fire, and the BCWS has an officer on the scene and an initial attack crew on the way.
Currently, there are 94 active wildfires within the Prince George Fire Centre.
