FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Spring is expected to be warmer than average in Fort St. John this year, according to Environment Canada.

Meteorologist Lisa Erven says temperatures will be slightly higher than normal beginning later in April.

“When I look at the forecast from mid-April through mid-May, there’s a 50-to-70 per cent chance of seeing above-normal temperatures,” Erven says.

“When I look further beyond, to seasonal products that capture the trends throughout the April-May-June time period, that probability increased to a 60-to-80 per cent chance.”

According to Erven, daily highs in the low single digits for April, mid-double digits in May, and the low 20s in June are “normal” temperatures for Fort St. John.

However, she also emphasizes that April, in particular, can be a volatile month.
