Blizzard Bicycle Club’s Spring Stage Series begins

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Blizzard Bicycle Club’s 38th Annual Spring Stage Series kicked off last weekend and saw consistent weather and participation.

Friday’s six-kilometre Beatton Park hill climb, held in temperatures above two degrees Celsius, with 10 riders competing.

Nigel Wray claimed victory with a time of 20:04. Barb Jarnagin followed at 23:39, and Rustam Sadykov finished third at 24:06.

Stage Two on Saturday, a gravely, hilly Frozen John loop, saw Nigel Wray secure his second win with a time of 38:42 over three laps, cycling a total of 18 kilometres.

Barb Jarnagin was second at 45:28, and Kevin Hunt third at 49:57.

On Sunday, Nigel Wray continued his winning streak, claiming victory in Stage Three’s 26-kilometre Baldonnel Road Race with a time of 42:44. Sean Dignan took second in 50:44, narrowly beating Barb Jarnagin.

The next event is the Baldonnel Time Trial on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The Blizzard Bicycle Club’s Spring Stage Series was initiated in 1986 and serves as early season training for the club.
