FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The FSJ Hospital Foundation has announced the funds raised through this year’s Bluey Day will be used to purchase an MRI Body Coil.

This purchase will support the MRI department at the Fort St. John Hospital.

The MRI Body Coil features an 18-coil attachment, offering patients improved images of the abdomen, pelvis, hip, prostate, cervix and uterus. It will also aid in early malignancy detection and reduce time in the MRI tube.

MRIs can take anywhere from 15 to 90 minutes, which may feel like a long time to patients, as they must remain still throughout the scan in order to ensure optimal images.

Bluey Day fundraiser participants collect donations and opt to have their heads shaved to support cancer diagnostics and treatment at the Fort St. John Hospital.

Community members who sign up commit to shaving their head or beard on May 25th at Centennial Park to support those who have lost their hair while undergoing cancer treatment.
