FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — OK Tire manager Robert Sapp is advising the public to watch for stolen items posted for sale online after a pair of thefts occurred at his business earlier this month.

On March 8th, around 3:30 a.m., a set of rims and tires were stolen from a customer’s Dodge Ram truck outside the shop located at 10808 100th Avenue in Fort St. John.

Sapp said they damaged the outside security cameras as well.

On March 12th, in the early morning hours, the store was broken into again, with the thieves taking another set of tires from the garage.

In the case of the truck, Sapp managed to track the items down via the Facebook marketplace, where the individuals had put the items up for sale. However, the whereabouts of the second set of tires have yet to be located.

Sapp says he’s seen a “massive amount” of break-and-entries committed over the years.

“Every few months, things like this happen. There’s a break and enter, then it’ll die down for some time, but then it will start up again,” said Sapp.

“To me, it just looks like these guys are just looking to make a quick buck, a quick score. I just want people to understand that while economic times are difficult, stealing items like this is affecting people’s lives.”

According to Sapp, theft victims are usually faced with the inconvenience of paying for a set of accessing insurance to replace the tires at a price he says is “through the roof.”

Energeticcity.ca reached out to the Fort St. John detachment for comment, but they were unavailable for comment at the time of this article’s publishing.
