Fort St. John Hospital welcomes birth of four leap-year babies

Four leap-year babies were born in the Fort St. John Hospital in 2024, bringing the total to eight since 2008, according to Northern Health.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Four leap-year babies were born in the Fort St. John Hospital in 2024, bringing the total to eight since 2008, according to Northern Health.

The health authority reported no leap-year babies born in 2020. Fort St. John welcomed the birth of two leap-year babies in 2016 and two in 2012.

In Dawson Creek, only two leap-year babies were born since 2008, one in 2012 and one in 2016.

In total, Northern Health reported ten leap-year babies born in 2024.

According to timeanddate.com, leap year babies, also known as leaplings, celebrate their birthday each year on February 28th or March 1st.

Because they appear every four years, the next leap year will take place in 2028.
