City utilizes snow-making machine ahead of High on Ice Winter Festival

Ahead of the High on Ice Winter Festival this weekend, the City of Fort St. John has utilized a snow-making machine to address the lack of snow in Centennial Park.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Ahead of the High on Ice Winter Festival this weekend, the City of Fort St. John has utilized a snow-making machine to address the lack of snow in Centennial Park. 

According to the city, Freelend Enterprises Vegetation Control and Snowmaking offered to donate their snow-making machine to this year’s event.

On Tuesday night, crews set up and worked through the night to build a snow hill to blanket Centennial Park.

The snow will be used for sculpture bases, structural components and in the Kid Zone.

A post about the snow on the city’s Facebook page has over 200 likes, with residents sharing their excitement over the addition.

The High on Ice Winter Festival kicks off on February 16th with opening remarks starting at 3:30 p.m. at Centennial Park.
