FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The annual High on Ice Winter Festival in Fort St. John kicks off on February 16th, with slightly modified events planned.

Due to the unseasonably warm weather and lack of snow, some of the events at the festival have been adjusted, but the ice carving and ice slides remain at Centennial Park.

Victoria Butler, the city’s arts and culture programmer, says the ice slides were still built despite the weather.

“The site crew and our departments came together to take whatever snow they could find throughout town to bring these ice slides to the community again,” Butler said.

“That might be the only snow we get, but it’s the most loved snow. So, I am really excited that we were able to do some of these community favourites.”

Organizers modified the sleigh ride event, which was initially supposed to take place at Kin Park but will now be wagon rides to take place at Sunset Stables near Baldonnel.
