Obituary – Dorothy Embreus

Dorothy passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024, in Nelson, BC, at the age of 92.

She was born in Vancouver, BC, and moved to West Kelowna in her teens. In her 20s, she went to England, where she worked and explored.

Dorothy went back to Vancouver in 1959 and moved to Fort St John, BC in 1961. Dorothy was a great mother, who gave her girls the freedom to grow and explore, but was always there when they needed her.

Dorothy was a secretary at North Peace high school and later at Central Elementary until she retired. She was involved with her union and was politically active. Dorothy was also an accomplished weaver. She enjoyed reading, classical music, cooking and having fun with her friends.

After retirement, Dorothy travelled, golfed curled and spent time with family. In 2004 Dorothy moved to Angela and Dave’s place, and in 2021 Dorothy moved with them to Kootenay Lake by Nelson BC.

She is survived and greatly missed by her daughters Jennifer (Bernie), Angela (Dave), and Sonja (Myles). Siblings Frank (Bernice), Gordon (Patricia), Ronald (Monika), and Rosemary, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
