UPDATE: Dust advisory ended for the North Peace River region

A dust advisory had been issued for the North Peace River region on Monday, including Fort St. John and Hudson’s Hope, due to high concentrations of coarse particulate matter.

UPDATE: The dust advisory for the North Peace River region has ended.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A dust advisory had been issued for the North Peace River region on Monday, including Fort St. John and Hudson’s Hope, due to high concentrations of coarse particulate matter.

The B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, in collaboration with the Northern Health Authority, issued the dust advisory for Houston, Vanderhoof, Fort St. John, Smithers and Hudson’s Hope Monday morning.

According to Environment Canada, the conditions were expected to remain until precipitation, dust suppression or a change in traffic patterns.

According to the Government of Canada’s Air Quality Health Index, Fort St. John is at a low risk on Tuesday and is expected to rise to a moderate risk later in the day.
