FORT ST. JOHN B.C. — Peace River North MLA Dan Davies has organized a community town hall meeting and invited some of his fellow BC United shadow ministers to attend in order to discuss crime in and around the Peace region.

“We’ve all seen an increase in crime, especially violent crime like shootings. Of course, one just happened recently in my neighbourhood,” said Davies.

The town hall takes place on February 15th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lido Theatre at 10156 – 100th Avenue, Fort St. John. Registration is not required.

Davies hopes the event will help bring awareness to the issue and provide a platform for residents to share their stories, thoughts, concerns, and ideas.

Davies says crime is a major issue not being taken seriously by the provincial government.

“We’ve been raising this issue with the NDP for quite some time. And it just seems to be falling on deaf ears,” said Davies.

During the town hall, Davies says he plans on bringing up BC United’s plans to tackle crime, such as the Safer B.C. plan.

BC United shadow ministers Micheal De Jong, Mike Morris, and Elenore Sturko will join Davies to speak on the party’s plans and answer questions from residents.

Davies has also invited City of Fort St. John Mayor Lilia Hansen and Chief Administrative Officer Milo MacDonald, along with community stakeholders.
