NPSS senior basketball teams to take on first responders in fundraiser game

The North Peace Secondary School senior boys and girls basketball teams are set to take on local first responders in a fundraiser game next Thursday.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Secondary School (NPSS) senior boys and girls basketball teams are set to take on local first responders in a fundraiser game next Thursday. 

Funds raised will be put towards the teams’  travel and costs for zones and provincial championships next month. 

According to Jaclyn McNicol, senior girls head coach and NPSS athletic director, the two teams will take on first responders from both Fort St. John and Taylor.

“We actually have some athletes whose parents are first responders,” said McNicol. 

“So they brought up the idea of the game, and we thought it was a good one.”

Senior boys head coach Ryan Galay says he expects the game to be a “fun night.”

“We also have a small game at half-time for the Fort St. John Flight program kids,” said Galay. 

The Grizzlies senior basketball teams’ fundraiser game kicks off in the NPSS gymnasium on February 1st at 6 p.m. and will feature a silent auction as well. 

Tickets are $5 each, and the Grizzlies are inviting community members of all ages to show their support and enjoy the game.
