BC Hydro GO Fund contributes over $47K to five Peace region non-profits

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — BC Hydro’s Generate Opportunities (GO) Fund is contributing $47,166 to five non-profit groups in the Peace River region.

The Totem Nursery Preschool Society in Fort St. John is receiving $9,740 to renovate the preschool basement play area, including rubberized flooring.

The River of the Peace Métis Society in Hudson’s Hope is receiving $10,000 to provide food vouchers to vulnerable families and individuals in the community.

The GO Fund will give $10,000 to the Hudson’s Hope Lions Club to help purchase a mobile kitchen trailer to allow the club to continue operations while the community hall is being replaced.

Hudson’s Hope for Health Society will receive $7,426 to host a three-day wellness conference for 300 people.

The Chetwynd Public Library Association will use $10,000 from the GO Fund to purchase gardening supplies for the “Kid Sprouts — Seed Library Program,” which teaches kids how to grow their own vegetables.

According to BC Hydro, 94 projects have received a total of $827,231 from the GO Fund, which was established in 2016 to support non-profit organizations throughout the construction of Site C.

Northern Development Initiative Trust administers the GO Fund, and funding applications are accepted continuously, with funds being distributed quarterly.
