Jewell is a social worker with years of experience in Fort St. John, working as the outreach coordinator with the Women’s Resource Society.

The new organization will be offering support for women and their families who have escaped domestic violence or experienced trauma.

Jewell says there are agencies in town to work with women while in crisis and get them to safety, but aftercare is hard to come by.

She says there is a high demand and limited staff specialized in this type of treatment.

Jewell is actively looking for auction items — some are already on the Facebook event page under the “Discussion” tab.

Auction items include candles from Vape King, gift cards from Brown’s Social House and equipment from United Rentals.

The event will occur on the Wellness Truth & Families Facebook page at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 19th.
