TAYLOR, B.C. — A car is still in the Pine River near Taylor due to icy conditions making recovery efforts difficult and dangerous.
According to David Karn with the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, the owner of the vehicle has attempted to take action to remove the car, but technical capacity and ice conditions on the river have made it dangerous to recover.
Karn says vehicle recovery will be attempted when river conditions improve, and the ministry is working with the owner and ICBC.
The Fort St. John RCMP said a report about the car was received on November 29th, 2023, and officers went to the river to ensure the safety of any occupants.
The vehicle was abandoned, half submerged and stuck in the ice with a tow strap attached.
The registered owner, ICBC and the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy were contacted to ensure the car would be dealt with.
The RCMP file was concluded following the initial report.
