Yeti Refrigeration to install equipment at Pomeroy Sport Centre in Fort St. John

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John council decided to use a company out of Prince George to purchase and install refrigeration chiller equipment at the Pomeroy Sport Centre.
During a council meeting on December 11th, the purchase and installation of the equipment was awarded to Yeti Refrigeration of Prince George for $159,431.02.
It was noted in the report that Yeti Refrigeration is the contractor the city uses for the sport centre, the curling club and the North Peace Arena.
The refrigeration company also works closely with Technical Safety BC to ensure the city complies with regulations.
Last week, Councillor Jim Lequiere asked if installing the replacement plates on the equipment could be done while the ice was in the centre.
Director of Community Services Karin Carlson said the ice will be out when the plates are installed. She said there is also a 30-week wait on ordering the parts as they are size-specific for the units in the Pomeroy Sport Centre.
Carlson also mentioned that all three chiller plates were replaced over the three years since they first noticed the issue, and this installation will be the last. The final replacement will take place in the summer of 2024.
