FortisBC announces rate changes, increase for Fort Nelson residents

FortisBC’s residential customers in Fort Nelson will see an increase in their bill, while most FortisBC gas customers will see an overall decrease as of January 1st, 2024.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — FortisBC’s residential customers in Fort Nelson will see an increase in their bill, while other areas of the province will see an overall decrease as of January 1st, 2024.

Fort Nelson customers will see an increase of approximately $9.75, or 11.4 per cent, based on an average household consumption of roughly 10 GJ per month.

FortisBC states the delivery rate will increase by $0.623 per GJ.

The decrease for other customers will be about one per cent, or approximately $1 per month, depending on consumption.

 Customers who subscribe to renewable natural gas will see an additional decrease, said FortisBC.
