FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Inconnu Swim Club hosted the Annual Sadownik Invitational 2023 at the North Peace Leisure Pool last weekend.

The invitational saw 59 participants from across Inconnu’s programs. It provided an opportunity for swimmers to race hard, show the skills they’ve learned so far, and introduce new members to a competitive event

The swim club demonstrated strong performances across a variety of events, from experienced swimmers attempting their first 200-metre butterfly swim to novice swimmers giving their all in a 100-metre free race.

Younger swimmers attending the invitational were able to observe and learn from swimmers in the club’s junior and senior programs.

Inconnu head coach Carmen Escobar says the invitational was a success.

“It’s very exciting to mention that our pup program contributed with two swimmers who managed to do five events in a very successful way,” said Escobar.

“Congratulations Lara Peters and Carter Gilbert. The future is bright!”

The swim club will host its next event in May, where they hope to have more members along with more races and competitions.

Escobar expressed gratitude for all the people who pitch in and make Inconnu swim events possible.

“Thank you to all our volunteers and parents supporting us, they’re the ones who make events like this happen,” said Escobar.

More information about Inconnu and upcoming events can be found on the swim club’s website.
