POUCE COUPE, B.C. — Former Pouce Coupe mayor Lorraine Michetti was fined $300 on Tuesday for exceeding the contribution limit allowed to her campaign in 2022.

In the 2022 General Elections, Michetti was a candidate for the Mayor of Pouce Coupe and contributed $3,100 to her own campaign, going over the $2,500 limit. She acted as her own financial agent for the campaign.

Michetti could have been fined up to $1,200 for the offence under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. Instead, she was fined $300 because she cooperated with the investigation, among other reasons defined by the director of investigations at Elections BC, Adam Barnes.
