NPSS Grizzlies Update: Senior boys soccer team competes in provincials
The NPSS Grizzlies senior boys soccer team travelled to Burnaby to compete in the BC School Sports Soccer Provincials from November 22nd to 25th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Secondary School (NPSS) Grizzlies senior boys soccer team travelled to Burnaby to compete in the BC School Sports Soccer Provincials from November 22nd to 25th.
The boys’ first matchup was against Reynold’s Secondary School, where they faced a 3-0 loss.
Next up, the boys took on Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School in a competitive match that resulted in a 2-1 loss, with Leon Truyols scoring the Grizzlies’ only goal.

In their third matchup, the boys played against Burnaby South Secondary School, which ended in a 3-2 loss for the Grizzlies, with goals from Pilot Plotnikow and Madix Palfy.
The boys worked on adjusting their offense and defense in their next matchup against Port Moody Secondary School, which resulted in a 4-0 loss for the Grizzlies.
In the finals, the senior boys lost 2-0 to Sa-Hali Secondary School, placing them 16th-overall at provincials.
NPSS athletics director Jaclyn McNicol says the team played exceptionally well, considering they were missing key veteran players during the tournament.

“All players on the 20-athlete roster stepped up on the field,” said McNicol.
“The Grizzlies held their own even with the injuries of veteran players prior to and during provincials. Other coaches were praising the level of competition the Grizzlies brought from the north.”
Mason Collington earned the title of Top Defensive Player of the tournament, and Leon Truyols was named Top Offensive Player. Most Valuable Player was awarded to Madix Palfy, who was also selected for the top 16 BC School Sports All-Star Team.
