Peace region product wins bronze at Parapan American Games

Wonowon’s Bo Hedges and Canada’s Senior Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team won bronze at the 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile, on Saturday.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. —  Wonowon’s Bo Hedges and Canada’s Senior Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team won bronze at the 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile, on Saturday. 

Canada defeated Argentina 70-62.

Saturday’s victory secured Team Canada a spot at the 2024 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Men’s Repechage tournament in Antibes, France, from April 12th to 15th of next year.

Hedges, a four-time Paralympian and senior men’s team captain has played for Team Canada since 2007. 

Earlier this year, Canada’s senior men’s wheelchair basketball team finished sixth place at the IWBF World Championships in Dubai.
