NPSS Grizzlies Update: Senior volleyball teams host zones

The North Peace Secondary School senior volleyball teams hosted the Northern Central Zone Championships from November 17th to 18th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Secondary School (NPSS) senior volleyball teams hosted the Northern Central Zone Championships from November 17th to 18th. 

Girls and boys volleyball teams from Lake City Secondary School in Williams Lake, Correlieu Secondary School in Quesnel and Prince George Secondary School travelled to Fort St. John to compete in the tournament. 

A first-place win in zones will qualify the teams for provincials later this month.

The Grizzlies senior girls team started the weekend strong by placing first in their pool, allowing them to advance to the finals against Correlieu.

The girls triumphed after an extremely competitive matchup and will head to provincials in the Lower Mainland from November 28th to December 3rd.

The senior boys also started the tournament with a win after defeating Lake City.

The boys fought hard in the finals but lost in four sets to Prince George.

Madix Palfy and Kenzie Steiner earned Most Valuable Player Awards, and Owen Dunn and Hailey Baker were named the weekend’s All-Stars. 

The Most Sportsmanlike Awards were given to Jackson Willms and Emilia Dyksterhuis. 

Up next, the Grizzlies boys soccer team is headed to Burnaby to compete in provincials this week.
