Fort St. John Legion to host annual Remembrance Day parade, service

The Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 is hosting this year’s annual Remembrance Day parade and service on Saturday.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 is hosting this year’s annual Remembrance Day parade and service on Saturday. 

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Cenotaph on the corner of 102nd Street and 105th Avenue and will march past the legion towards city hall before returning to the Cenotaph. 

Road closures will be in effect starting at 8:30 a.m. and are expected to end at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Service groups marching in the parade will line up on 102nd Street and into the parking lot of the School District 60 office building. 

Spectators are encouraged to view the parade along 105th Avenue and 100th Street. 

Following the parade, service will be held inside the legion at 11 a.m., followed by lunch, games and dinner. Dinner is $25 a plate.

Community members of all ages are welcome to attend. 

Additionally, BC Transit will offer free services for the day and will run on a reduced schedule from 8:15 a.m. until 5:15 p.m.

On October 24th, council proclaimed October 27th to November 11th as the Poppy Campaign and November as Legion Month in Fort St. John.

In Dawson Creek, there will be a ceremony and flag-raising at the Unchagah Hall at 10:45 a.m.

In Taylor, there will be a ceremony at the Taylor COmmunity Hall, doors open at  10:30 a.m.

During her schooling, Jordan discovered a deep passion for reporting on Indigenous issues, culture and affairs. Jordan is also passionate about connecting with and listening to stories from people from different walks of life and cultural backgrounds.

Last Spring, Jordan completed her first season providing play-by-play for Trinity Western University Women’s Hockey and gameday hosting for BCHL Coquitlam Express.

Jordan enjoys radio anchoring, creating and editing video content, and hopes to one day pursue a career in investigative journalism as well as producing documentaries.
