Poppy sales raise about $20K for local Legion
Cadets were out again over the weekend and have raised about $20,000 from poppy sales for the Fort St. John Legion.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Cadets have raised about $20,000 from poppy sales for the Fort St. John Legion.
Tracy Radcliffe, a training officer with the Royal Candian Army Cadet Corps, said Fort St. John was as generous as usual over the weekend. She said they also noticed a lot of American money while counting, which Radcliffe believes may have helped boost their totals.
The funds will go towards the local Legion’s Poppy Fund, which helps local veterans with their needs, such as installing wheelchair ramps in homes, buying or fixing vehicles, and helping send veterans to school to learn a different trade.

In 2023, more cadets volunteered to sell poppies and more businesses offered to sell them compared to previous years, said Radcliffe.
“I just am really proud of the cadets that went out in this kind of gross weather,” she said.
The Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 will be holding a Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11th.
