Behind the Scenes

With the closure of local papers in Dawson Creek and Fort St John, there are certain services that the community is now missing out on. In order to help, we have decided to step up.

The first new service we are offering is community notices. For certain projects, corporations and governments are required to notify the public as they may interfere with our day to day. You will now be able to find those notices on our site and in our newsletter as they come along. If you work for an organization that needs to submit a community notice, you can do so here.

The second new service is obituaries. Going forward, we will be sharing obituaries and funeral notices on the site as they are submitted. Because we know how difficult these situations can be, we are offering this service for free for families of the deceased.

There are more services that the papers offered that we are looking to pick up in the next few months. If there is one in particular you think is important, please let us know at contact@energeticcity.ca

Top Stories of the Week

It’s always interesting to see what the readers of Energeticcity.ca are most interested in the region. Sometimes it’s a big decision that will impact property taxes, and sometimes it’s a new restaurant coming to town. Here are the top stories for the week of October 29 to November 4, 2023:

  1. Dangerous Driver Hits Police Vehicle: and a Jeep in Dawson Creek. The vehicle matched a description of a possible stolen vehicle reported earlier, said police.
  2. Northeast BC Developers and PRRD Squabble: over building bylaws. Property owner Rob Herman says he believes he was in compliance over seven mini storage buildings but the PRRD disagrees.
  3. Local Restaurant Broken Into Twice: in one week. The restaurant in question is Montana’s BBQ in Fort St John and RCMP are looking into who may be responsible.
